Take this soap upon your brow!
And, in parting from you now,
your water let me avow
that sprays down in a many stream
that this hot shower is filled with steam.
Yet if the water bill I cannot pay,
at the end of the month I pray,
Not for the cold water, which will stun!
but for the heat, that comes like dawn!
For your warm waters I dream,
O Hot shower, that is filled with steam.

Ceramic by Catherine Zornada
I stand amid the roar
of the hot water’s pour,
and I hold within my hand
a bar of Irish Spring brand —
How green! But the bubbles seep
into closed eyes I keep,
So I weep — so I weep!
My eyes! Do they not any harder close?
Or perhaps I should spray them out with a hose?
O God! I cannot see
wherever this soap bar of green might be!
But still for your warm waters do I dream,
O Hot shower, that is filled with steam.
