FADE IN: EXT. INTERIOR OF SARA MITCHELL’S TECH FIRM – NIGHT

SARA MITCHELL: Alex, Emma, we’re on the verge of revolutionizing cybersecurity. Keep up the great work.

EMMA: Alex, there’s something wrong. I’ve noticed anomalies in the code, unauthorized access. [ALEX narrows his eyes, realizing the gravity of the situation.]
ALEX: We need to trace it back. Our encryption can’t afford any compromises.
[They delve into a labyrinth of code, discovering a message from SHADOW, the hacker.]

What message do you hope to convey through your piece?
In this piece, I want to show how trust and honesty are vital, especially in cybersecurity, a field I’m passionate about due to my background in computer science. The story highlights the impact of betrayal on projects and the importance of integrity in collaborative work.
What is your main source of inspiration?
My main source of inspiration for “Binary Betrayal” comes from my fascination with cybersecurity and the rapidly evolving digital landscape. As someone with a background in computer science, I’m interested in the complexities of technology and the ethical dilemmas it presents. Real-world cybersecurity incidents and the threat of cyberattacks serve as constant reminders of the importance of protecting digital assets. Additionally, exploring the human element within cybersecurity, such as trust, betrayal, and the consequences of deception, are what drive the narrative of this scene writing.
Why did you choose to submit this category(s) of artwork/writing out of the many available category options?
I chose to submit my scene writing to the literary fair because it’s a category I’ve always been passionate about. Every time I participate in the literary fair, I tend to write scenes because it allows me to express my creativity and storytelling skills in a simple yet impactful way, and I enjoy the challenge of writing compelling narratives within a limited space. Scene writing is where I feel most confident and engaged, and I’m excited to share my work in this genre at the fair.
