Crisp Days

By Heidi Klink

The leaves golden and crisp,
As twisted tree’s shadows sway,
Coffee steam curls into whisps.
The air is soft, spoken in lisps,
The light fades to wave to the day,
The leaves golden and crisp.
A wall of fog drapes,
Sweater sleeves begin to fray,
Coffee steam curls into whisps.
Hold my hand, you grip,
Dance through the fields like ballet,
The leaves golden and crisp.
The weather begins to tip,
Red, and orange and shades of gray,
Coffee steam curls into whisps.
The leaves tumble and trip,
Flitting to the ground where they gently lay.
The leaves golden and crisp,
Coffee steam curls into whisps.
