December
by Josh Sarkarati

I met a girl in the chilly month of December
I let her into my heart and found she warmed it
Come next winter, I was alone, and I could not live without her
She brought warmth and joy. My love for her one could not deter
My life felt meaning. For once, the cold, dark thoughts would quit
I met a girl in the chilly month of December
Every moment we would spend together
And I believed this would be the girl with whom I’d never split
Come next winter, I was alone, and I could not live without her
For one summer night the words “I love you” I let myself murmur
And the warmth faded and she left me frostbit, for
I met a girl in the chilly month of December
I once again was surrounded by the coldest of thoughts, not yet even winter
But as the months passed, the leaves fell, my spirits falling with it
Come next winter, I was alone, and I could not live without her
I stood shivering, facing down the cold rippling water, my thoughts a blur
I jumped in, the cold swallowed me whole, the last bit of warmth finally omit
I met a girl in the chilly month of December
Come next winter, I was alone, and I could not live without her

BIO:
I am involved in the robotics team as one of the directors. I am also a part of the Pre-Engineering Society. In my free time I enjoy reading, building Legos and writing confusing sci-fi stories.
What is your main source of inspiration?
My main source of inspiration is the world around me. The people close to me and their stories, as well as just the natural events of the world, both provide me with lots of writing ideas.
Do you write sporadically or regularly?
I write very sporadically. My writing output depends purely on what kind of mood I’m in. I can go a few weeks without writing a single word, and then one night inspiration strikes and I stay up all night writing.
What is your ideal writing environment?
My ideal writing environment is one that is free of any distractions, so preferably as far away from my phone as possible. I do like a setting with a lot of light and some ambient noise so that it’s not just dead silence.
