Euphoria?

By Sanya Ahmed

Walking through a field,

sunshine shining through the clouds.

Dandelions brush my side,

Is this what happiness is?

Faint rainbow above,

the vibrant sea sparkles.

If only I could just sparkle

I just need to choose a field

Then I’d be above

Everyone. My thoughts race through the clouds.

What if this isn’t what everyone says it is?

At least I have someone by my side.

The wave seems to glide to one side

Why can’t everything just sparkle?

Wait. I think it actually does. Is

there anything under the field

Yeah. There’s clouds.

Huh. Aren’t clouds usually above?

Focus on the sun above.

Radiance is always by my side.

I want to glide above the clouds.

Just forget everything and sparkle.

Running through a field.

Dress flowing in the wind. Is

this all just a daydream? Is

My happiness just all above?

Whatever. I’m in the field

And I don’t need anybody by my side

I’m in the sun. I’m glowing and sparkling.

The sea reflects the clouds.

So that means I won’t have permanent dark clouds.

I think that’s all it really is.

One last time. I’m SPARKLING.

I‘m above.

Just to look at a different side.

It’s find. I’ll find the field.

With all the sparkles, I think everythings uploaded to the clouds.

The field doesn’t matter, the ambition is what is.

You can’t control above, you can control your side.

Biography

My name is Sanya, and I’m a sophomore. When I’m not in school, you can usually find me traveling for speech and debate competitions or programming some fun projects. I also love reading and trying new foods.

What is your ideal writing environment?

My ideal writing environment is somewhere peaceful, like outside or in my room, where I can focus.

What motivated you to write this piece?

I was actually sitting outside when I got the idea to jot down some words to complete an English poetry assignment. I let my thoughts flow, and before I knew it, the piece was written.
