Fading Beauty

Spring sepals sway
Petals thrust until bloom

Biography
My name is Victoria Tellez-Rahwan, I am from Spain and I am currently a sophomore. I am passionate about the field of engineering as well as the arts. My interests include drawing, dancing, cooking, and sewing. I also love traveling and being able to experience different cultures around the world.
What is your ideal writing environment?
My ideal writing environment is in nature; whether it is surrounded by trees or overlooking the ocean, nature always allows me to gain great inspiration.
What motivated you to write this piece?
While writing this poem, I found inspiration in the nature which surrounded me. As I was observing a tree with flowers I noticed that some were in full blossom while others were beginning to wilt. This motivated me to create the cinquain poem “Fading Beauty” which describes the evolution of a flower over time.
What message do you hope to convey through your piece?
Through my piece, “Fading Beauty,” I hope to convey the central message of the withering of beauty through the vivid description of a flower transforming as time passes and the seasons change.
