I care

by Angeliah Pierre

Angeliah Pierre (grade 9)

My name is Angeliah Pierre, and I am a freshman. When I am in school, you can often find me hanging out with my friends or with my headphones on. You may also find me in Mock Trial, in the courtroom, or supporting my friends, whether it be on the field or not. In my free time, I enjoy Facetiming my friends, sleeping, spending time with my family, enjoying nature, as well as listening to all kinds of music or adding to my shoe collection. I enjoy law, movies, speech and debate, and all things literature.

How do you resonate with your piece? Why is it personal to you?

I resonate with the piece because of the fact that I once used to be in the position of the main character. I feel as if it is such a universal experience and that many people go through it, whether a large or small scale. This did hit close to home as it did tell such a shared hardship, but also showed how the main character was able to get over it. This spoken word entails hardships and growth. It is just a part of life.

Do you write sporadically or regularly?

Most of my writing is sporadic. Either if a topic is really good, I am able to write, or if a random word/ scenario pops into my head, a whole spoken word/ poem can come out of that.

What is your ideal writing environment?

My ideal writing environment is either quiet or with my headphones on, on my laptop, and late at night ( where it is mainly me and my thoughts).
