little child

Little child they said, “Look away.
The pollution of the sky, turns it gray,
Learn the science, don’t care about the Earth,
It only matters what the land is worth.”
Little Child they said, “You don’t have to care
Unless you make money off that air.
Money comes first, nature is last,
That’s how it’s been for years past.”
Little Child they said, “You don’t need to know
Why the Earth is heating, rain from snow.
With money you won’t need to care anymore,
Who cares about the Earth; just don’t be poor.”
Little Child they said, “The world belongs to you;
Pollute the oceans, cut down trees, too.
The world is yours and yours to claim,
As long as history never forgets your name.”
Little Child they said, “We don’t lie,
The trees and turtles are meant to die.
Humans are the best, one of a kind,
Anything else is out of mind.”
Little Child they said, “We’ll heal the land,”
Empty promises they gave, I couldn’t understand.
Now I look back at the lies we all had been fed,
Thanks to their greed, our planet is dead.
