“Life Line”
Acrylic and oil painting on canvas by 11th grader Lindsey Cheng
Silence
By Brianna Malloy
A word that can not be said
A sound to hear
A movement to describe
Emptiness ahead of sound
Expression fading crackle after crackle
Nothing
Silent
Swaying of air
Absence of noise
And though the nothing evokes squeals
I stare into the silence
Each nothingness swaying into my ears
Silence reminds me I’m different
I crave nothing
Void of darkness
No sounds to shout
No voices
No me
No them
Silence

Biography
My name is Brianna Malloy, and I am a freshman. I love to do many artsy things like photography and writing. I also am a soccer player with an intense passion for psychology.
What is your main source of inspiration?
My main source of inspiration is my different perspective of life. I have a very unique brain and simply put my innermost thoughts on paper.
What motivated you to write this piece?
My motivation came to me on day when my cousin was talking to me about how she loves to go out. It then came to me that I really dislike being out and I find the most comfort within myself. I started thinking deeper and realized I admire silence.
