Twins

I came out blue

I came out yellow

We are clearly one of a fellow

I’m 1 minute older

Shut up dummy

Our rivalry is kind of funny

“We’re twins”

“You don’t look alike at all!”

There happens to be something called FRATERNAL

My hair is straight

My hair is in curls

Skin is more sun kissed

Skin like a tan pearl

Thing Number 1

Thing Number 2

“I am no exact copy of you.”

Biography

Hello, everyone! My name is Kendra, and I’m a 15 year old sophomore. Something you could learn about me is that I LOVE all kinds of art. Whether I’m drawing, playing guitar, taking photos, singing, or even writing poetry, art enraptures me. It’s a reflection of who the artist is as a person, and I think that’s so beautiful. In my poem “Twins,” I tell the story of my twin sister Khloe, my other half. We are most DEFINITELY not the same, and people should know twins aren’t a matching set. They’re like a locket, or complementary puzzle pieces. Still beautiful and completely unique, but even better together!

What motivated you to write this piece?

My twin sister Khloe, who has been part of my life since before my life (inspired me to write this poem). She has been the #1 inspiration for me.

What message do you hope to convey through your piece?

I hope to convey the differences between twins. A big reaction that people tend to have is “You two don’t look the same!” and they haven’t even heard of fraternal twins! We are not the same, just two very different people who complement each other like night does to day.
