Biography
My name is Sarah Pontes Dantas, and I am a 10th-grade student at American Heritage School, where I have been enrolled since 6th grade. Born in Brazil and raised in Florida, I have developed a strong sense of adaptability and a global perspective from an early age. I am passionate about academic growth and enjoy reading and traveling, as they allow me to expand my knowledge and experience new cultures. I value spending time with my family and maintaining meaningful friendships, and I strive to take full advantage of the opportunities available to me while continuing to grow both academically and personally.
What is your main source of inspiration?
My parents are my greatest source of inspiration. By leaving Brazil and embracing new opportunities in the United States, they made significant sacrifices to ensure I could receive a strong education. Their courage and determination motivate me to push myself and fully value the opportunities I have today.
What motivated you to write this piece, and what is its message?
I was inspired by the idea that not everything has to be loud or constantly changing to be important. Many children’s stories focus on characters growing, transforming, or proving something, but I wanted to explore what it means to stay the same in a world where everything else is moving. By using simple shapes like a dot, a line, and a square, I focused on visual storytelling and emotion rather than detail. The message of the story is that you don’t always have to change or do more to have value, sometimes just being steady, present and exactly who you are can bring balance and meaning to everything around you.
